To check the new primary bank account, a test transfer is started. If this verification is unsuccessful, an email is issued describing the failure, and the offline procedure should be used instead.

If the principal holder of the bank and demat account is the same, clients can add a joint bank account as the primary bank account. If they differ, send the account update form (PDF) and bank proof 1 to Zerodha via courier.

Here is a quick offline procedure to update your bank account using Zerodha in the event that your cell number isn’t connected to your Aadhar:

Step 1: Log onto Zerodha.com

Step 2: Visit the ‘Downloads & resources’ link under the ‘Support’ heading in the bottom.

Step 3: Then, under the “Change request forms” section, download the “Account modification form.”

Step 4: Fill out the online form on paper before printing it.

Step 5: Signs must be placed where they are necessary.

Step 6: Include supporting documentation for the relevant bank account.

Step 7: Send the completed form to the Zerodha headquarters.

Any one of the following papers is acceptable as bank proof:

  • A copy of the bank statement with the IFSC code and MICR number that has been self-attested.
  • Canceled check (check must have client name printed on it)
  • An authenticated replica of a bank passbook.
